    Education in Germany

    Akademie Germanica
    Deutschkurse in Frankfurt

Since its establishment in 1995 Akademie Germanica has specialised in German as a foreign language courses. The school is located in Bockenheim, one of Frankfurt 's most exciting neighbourhoods, next to the university campus.

During the past decades, Germany has become one of Europe 's greatest economic and business powers. Speaking German fluently has therefore become a priority for those willing to boost their career opportunities. We are well aware of the importance of German within the international and business relations and that is why we offer language courses right in the centre of Germany . Do not miss the opportunity to learn a language while introducing yourself to the culture and traditions of one of Europe 's leading countries!

Frankfurt, the business capital of the Federal Republic of Germany, is a city open to the world, full of ancient traditions and determined to become one of Europe 's trade centres. However, it is not all about the money! Did you know that the University of Frankfurt was founded in 1914? It was indeed named after the city's most famous son, Goethe, Germany 's worldwide-known writer. Its opera house, its theatres and museums make Frankfurt one of Germany 's top cultural and scientific metropolis. In short, Frankfurt is a young and active city, full of life, and waiting to be discovered. What are you waiting for?

    Our team

Our teachers are all native German speakers and none of them is older than 40 years old. They all have a university degree and are trained in teaching German as a foreign language. One of our team's advantages is its teaching method. We also have English-speaking tutors who can assist our students if something needs to be explained.

    Course organisation

Lessons are held every morning, from Monday to Friday. Our objective is to combine grammar exercises with an emphasis on communication skills. Our highly-experienced team and our teaching material make it possible for us to offer this alternative teaching method. What's more: our students can get the best of every course thanks to the reduced size of our groups (no more than 8 students per class).

Every afternoon and weekends, the school organises activities and day trips to nearby towns. Activities include visits to museums, city sightseeings, theatres, showsand are made together with German students, so you can practise even more! And if you want to meet new people, do not miss our famous Treffen every Wednesday at 20:30 !

    Our courses

Our courses are divided into three different levels (please note that there will be no courses lasting less than two weeks)

    • Elementary level I Complete beginners
    • Elementary level II Basic knowledge of the language
    • Elementary level III Elementary knowledge - conversation
    • Intermediate I Intermediate conversation
    • Intermediate II Advanced knowledge of grammar fluent conversation
    • Advanced Command of grammar and conversation.

Every level is divided into different groups formed by students according to their knowledge. In order to help us select a group suitable for you, we ask you to fill in a level test. You can do the test either on the first day of the course at our school or at home, before the course starts. Please, let us know if you choose the latter and we will provide you with a copy of our test. We also offer special courses to obtain the DSH certificate, which is compulsory for those willing to study at a German university, as well as business German courses (all levels). Advanced students can also take German lessons in more specific areas of the language such as business, scientific and legal. Please note that the minimum age required to take part in one of our courses is 18 years old.

    Lessons

German intensive courses are held every morning from Monday to Friday and s tandard courses in the evenings, once or several times a week in different times that vary from 17.00 to 21.45.

Students willing to do an intensive course can choose between 4 and 6 lessons per day (1 lesson = 45 minutes).

Private lessons last 45 minutes. Students must hire a minimum of 2 classes. Price is 25 € per hour (45 minutes).

    Certificates

The school will issue a certificate of attendance for those who have attended lessons regularly.

Akademie Germanica can arrange accommodation for you. There are three types of accommodation:

    • shared flats: our student's favourite choice! Students have a single room and the kitchen and bathroom are shared with German students. Especially recommended for those who want to practise their knowledge!
